Summer masterclasses with David Pavlovits

1. The Masterclasses
This is a unique opportunity for young musicians to perform, improve their guitar and musicianship skills, make new friends, be in the nature, enjoy different activities in the wonderful Alps environment close to Sion (Valais).
Activities:
- daily lessons
- performing in concerts in the region (participation is not obligatory)
- workshops and discussions on music, literature, art and films
- hiking tours in the high mountains
- meeting the luthier Darragh O'Connell (winner of Granada guitar making contest) and his guitars
Guest teacher: international concert artist Vlodimir Dozenko, Ukraine.
2. The Expenses
The fee 550 EUR includes the 150 euros registration fee which must be transferred in advance.
The rest (400 EUR) is to be payed upon arrival.
The application fee includes free accommodation and meals for the entire week.
Students with limited financial resources (Eastern Europe, Ukraine and Middle-East) can apply for a grant, giving details in the application. The grant can offer a reduction up to 40%. The participants will live in a chalet (large wooden house in the Alps countryside) rented for the festival. The meals are prepared together, expecting all players to join and share activity with the household. The chalet is to be maintained in the condition we receive it, so all participants all share responsibility for taking care of it.

3. To Perform
The students have opportunity to perform in several concerts during the festival.
For the promotion of concerts please include:
- a high resolution photo
- a short CV in English (max 5 sentences)
- in case of visa invitation, a copy of your passport, your home address and birth date
4. Location
Access to Sion is the closest from Geneva airport, then from the airport direct train to Sion.
Other airports: Zurich or Milano.
Train rides are approximately 2-3 hours.

THE TEACHER – DÁVID PAVLOVITS
The guitarist and composer David Pavlovits is one of Hungary's leading guitarists and guitar teachers, currently working as associate professor, head of one of Hungary's most successful guitar class at the University of Szeged.
He and his students have won a great number of international and national competition prizes. His former students have become also successful performers and active teachers in U.K., France, New Zeeland or Denmark. As a performer, he has played in over 30 countries including the Carnegie Hall of New York, the Cairo Opera House, the Shanghai Conservatoire, and the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, travelling in Europe, Middle-East, Africa, Asia and the Americas. As a composer, he has published dozens of original works and arrangements for guitar, including two sonatas, chamber music, and several suites and studies.
